A letter is sent to each family outlining all the details of the day but basically:

  • Each class will be assigned an area of the school to tidy.
  • Class Liaison Parents will co-ordinate the work for their area on the day.
  • The work will involve pruning, weeding, sweeping, removal of rubbish, planting and general tidying, etc.
  • Each family will please send a representative for a few hours.

BER Building Progress

Over the 2010 Christmas holidays the Stage 3 classroom was moved and excavation began.   Over the next month or so we will lay the slab and reinstall the upper playground equipment.  The construction of our Multi-Purpose Hall will soon begin.  Please attend the AGM to learn more about our plans, the various tasks people are performing and the building schedule.

SCHOOL OPEN DAY

Saturday, 12th March 2011 - 8am - 4pm

The open day is a wonderful opportunity for us to invite family and friends, who may be considering a Montessori education for their children, to come and see our school.  The classrooms are open and guests can learn about the Montessori philosophy and environment by talking with our educational staff, students and families and by viewing the Montessori equipment and environment.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Monday, 28th March 2011

Meeting details and nomination forms are sent to members prior to the meeting.  Please make every effort to attend as your involvement makes a huge difference to what your child gains from their time at Southside.  Your family is part of a Montessori community jointly educating our children and fostering a lifelong love of learning.  Let’s all work together to make our school the best it can be.

INFO

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Being a parent at Southside Montessori School means being involved in our school community. Parents are expected, and not merely encouraged, to do their share. The child most likely to benefit from Montessori education is the child whose parents take an active and consistent interest in the school. Directors and parents are co-educators of the children.

Our school is largely run on the voluntary labour and efforts of the parents. In this way parents are brought closer to their child's environment, made aware of the needs of the school, and by participating in fundraising, administration and maintenance, enable costs to be kept down. The school has reached its present standard because of the unselfish efforts of past parents at the school over long periods of time, and it is up to us all to ensure that this will continue.

ENROLMENT
For your child to be considered for a place at the school, you and/or your partner will have attended an open morning and observation, and to have properly completed an application form with payment.

In the case of older applicants and transfers (over 4 years of age), a place will only be offered if there is a vacancy for the age and the sex of the child, there is a definite commitment to the Primary programme and other standard enrolment criteria are satisfied.

OBSERVATION
For enquiries to book an observation morning in your child's class, please contact the office:
